The imperative for the educrats is to protect teachers' jobs, raise their compensation, and obtain professional respect. For the most part, they fight any effort to introduce greater accountability or increase performance incentives. Merit pay, competency exams, vouchers, it doesn't matter, they are not mainly interested in helping kids, but in feathering their own nests.........
