If there are problems with Willamette, it won't be due to lack of GHz scalability. I'll bet Willamette still has a lot of room left for speed improvements before Northwood. This is very different from Coppermine which is being pushed to its limits and perhaps beyond.

By the way, Jim is right. For AMD, there could be a sizable window of opportunity between Pentium III and Pentium 4. That all depends on whether AMD is successful in moving the $300 sweet spot to around 1 GHz between now and Tualatin (mid-2001).
