you are making a large assumption that I didn't make... that SS can be saved. I just assume its going under unless they spend every surplus cent shoring it up, and that skews my perspective on these tax cuts - it means those that pay into fica get less of a cut as a percentage of total tax. If you assume SS will survive thats different, then it should stay regressive I suppose but it must be reformed to survive, retirement age raised etc.

I'm definitely with you on ending tax deduction for home equity loans, how did that ever get in there in the first place?
