uw,

<< how is my guessing today? >>

Very good, and good knowledge and descriptions of the terrain,

<< school would have been northeastern, BU or BC >>

Terriers undergrad, Eagles post grad.

<< at one end you could be homeless in the gardens>>

Not so far from the 'Combat Zone' and some good jazz at 'Izzy Orts'

<< at the other you could be in a newton mansion >>

Several owned by the parents of my fraternity brothers, so an occasional memorable party when their folks vacationed.

A bit more upstream was the best Big Band stuff (Totem Pole).

<< in between your haunts could be the student hang outs around newbury street >>

Some of the best jazz near there.

Some folk as well but that was all over and warranted an occasional excursion across the river.

<< the meat markets in kenmore square >>

Moi?. Dorm there as a freshman. Patriots were playing in Fenway back then. Migrated up the ave a bit further each year.

<< the sleaze bars in allston and brighton >>

Supplemented my tuition or pocket money playing sax (not sex) in several and lived in brownstones there for 4 years.

Great years. All of this before the reconstruction of the harbor area. I have been back all too seldom, since. Lots of recent trips to the area, but all out on 495 near the original DG digs, or up by Polaroid, and I usually fly into Worcester or Providence rather than Logan.
