In the past, the Congress and press generally had the good taste to stay out of the President's sex life, even though they knew exactly what was going on.

That may have been how it was in the past but that's not how it works not.....Clinton knew that....he already had had problems in Arkansas that were made somewhat public.

The Republicans were so angry in 1992 at losing the presidency, that they took it on themselves to do everything possible (legal and illegal) to undermine Clinton. Given the dozens of serious offenses the Republicans have accused Clinton of, and the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars they have spent trying to destroy him, the best they could come up with was a cigar.

That's right....and the pressures of the Russian economy clouded Putin's judgement re some guys on a sub. I am sorry but blaming the Republicans for Clinton's missteps is like that guy who shot a councilman in SF and blamed it on hostess twinkies.

Besides Clinton was acting out well before he got to the White House.

It is a testament to Clinton's character that he did an incredible job in the face of such reckless political adventurism.

I would have preferred he had had a real affair as opposed to this fulfillment of a sexual fantasy. The man is pretty immature, very ego-centric and looks to have some psychological problems. I feel sorry for he and his family....they have been badly embarrassed. Nonetheless I would prefer he did wield so much power.
