There are two parts of your post I agree with - "I don't think" and the first part of your screen-name. Itanium may or may not be a success but it is key to the plans of any number of big hitters including Intel, HP, Microsoft, Sun, IBM, Compaq and a host of others. Win or lose, it's a big deal. Sorta like saying that nobody cares about the prime rate or a drug company's anti-cancer drug. There aren't all that many really big items in the semi business - Itanium is one of them.
