Hi BeckyA, I guess you could say that when I lessen the number of shares I own at any given price that I'm effectively "shorting" my own position. I prefer to think of it as "risk management." Many on this board have been here a very long time and have held VTSS through thick and thin to their benefit and increased net worth.

There are also those that have frequented here in the past to attempt to profitably "trade the range" where they would have been far better off to have bought and held. It's only been in VTSS's most recent history (maybe the last 12 to 18 months) that its offered quick potential on the short side. However one must be nimble to make it pay.

My own methods call for me capping my "risk envelope" at a certain value and selling the premium above that point. This lets me cap risk while realizing the long term potential of an investment. The proceeds are then used to repurchase shares and expand the risk envelope at another time when the share price is out of favor. This is not an All Or Nothing trading method but only pruning, trimming and replanting.

I developed my "Motto" from the whole realm of Fear and Greed that saturates the markets. It helps me maintain humor as well as direction while being a full time investor.
