Thread: I found this news item over at ML. From the title it looks to hold little promise of offering anything of major interest. A read is very different: CPQ is beefing up it's EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) operations.

Compaq Names Rob Walker Op Chief Of EMEA Operations >CPQ

Story 1264 (CPQ)

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ) Tuesday named former Xerox U.K.
Ltd. managing director Rob Walker vice president and chief operating officer for
the company's European, Middle Eastern and African operations.

At the same time, Werner Koepf, currently vice president and general manager in
the region, has been appointed chairman and chief executive of the operation.

The group said Walker, who will join Compaq Sept. 1, will have day-to-day
management responsibilities for EMEA while Koepf will concentrate on the
strategic direction of the operation and the implementation of Compaq Computer
International GmbH in Zurich.

Some 40% of Compaq's revenue is generated in the EMEA region and the group has of
late been boosting up its management for these operations. The group is also
creating a new entity to handle pan-European accounts, with a new headquarters
set to open this autumn.
