RMBS not fairing too well today on Micron Lawsuit:

Micron Technology, Inc., Files Lawsuit Against Rambus Inc.

BOISE, Idaho, Aug 28, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Micron Technology, Inc., (NYSE: MU chart, msgs) today filed suit against Rambus Inc. of Mountain View, California, in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

The suit asserts violations of the Federal antitrust laws, and also asserts invalidity, non-infringement, and non-enforceability of Rambus patents pursuant to a number of different bases.

Micron Technology, Inc., and its subsidiaries manufacture and market DRAMs, very fast SRAMs, Flash, other semiconductor components, memory modules, and personal computer systems. Chip stocks dip

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Chip stocks fell for the third straight day in Tuesday's trading.



The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index ($SOX: news, msgs) slipped 0.9 percent, pushed lower by falling shares of Rambus (RMBS: news, msgs) which fell 5 3/4 to 78 1/4.

Rambus is being sued by Micron Technology (MU: news, msgs) in U.S. District Court in Delaware. Micron is alleging that Rambus violated antitrust laws and non-enforceability of certain Rambus patents.

Texas Instruments (TXN: news, msgs) also fell 2 1/16 to 67 5/16.

Intel (INTC: news, msgs) shares rose 7/16 to 74 5/16 as the San Jose, Calif.-based chip giant said it halted shipments of its high-speed 1.13 gigahertz Pentium III chip. Some of the company's flagship microprocessors have a defective circuit that needs to be changed, Intel said. See full story.
