What rulings? Rambus does have agreements, all under NDA as far as I know, except for the Intel stuff on file at the SEC. The PR representation of those agreements is sometimes exaggerated, as in the 6 month Hitachi deal and the Oki deal covering stuff that Oki mostly doesn't make. A possible interesting sidelight of this action would be how much of those agreements see the light of day.

The Hitachi settlement is not a ruling in the sense of establishing precedent, to my knowledge. Most settlements specifically stipulate that. As to the patents being issued, there are plenty of stupid patents issued; sometimes they even make a lot of money. We'll see what happens.
