Mine definition is simpler and repudiates all that microscopic inspection:

1. Higher highs and higher lows.
2. Bear patterns are not in play.

S&P500 in a bear -- don't make me laugh.

It all depends on your timeframe. All the weeklies of the major indices look just fine to me, although the NASDAQ is clearly weaker than the others. Anyway, many of them are at or approaching all time f'cking highs. This does not happen in a bear market.

BTW, I smell the potential for interesting down coming on the NDX. A cleaner than average H&S has developed on short timeframe intraday.
