New Products: Sports trivia game, energy guide and scales

By Maureen Bavdek

NEW YORK, Aug 29 (Reuters) - So you think you're a walking wealth of sports trivia knowledge? Well, Norm "the Sports Nut" Nutman wants to go head to head with you!

Norm isn't the newest network sportscaster. He is a 10-inch-tall, nut-shaped (as in bolt, not peanut) sports trivia whiz introduced by Radica Games Limited.

The Sports Nut game is preprogrammed with hundreds of various sports trivia questions -- everything from badminton to baseball, according to the company (though our Sports Nut seems to be rather top-heavy on basketball and baseball).

To play, just press Norm's big, red tongue and he bellows out a question. Press his tongue again to choose your answer from a multiple-choice list. One to four players can challenge the Sports Nut while he keeps track of each player's score. He is programmed to respond to both right and wrong answers with amusing sarcasm and sound effects.

In addition, each Sports Nut can be hooked up to the Internet via the Nut eLink and be personalized to recognise your nickname and remember your favourite (or least favourite) teams. You can also customise the questions and content through downloads and get up to 120 new questions every week. Downloading requires one-step connection between the Sports Nut and a personal computer.

The Sports Nut is recommended for ages 8 and up and will be available in September at major retailers nationwide for about $40. The price of the Sports Nut eLink is about $50.
