Daniel Beisiegel, Chief Analyst/Head Portfolio Manager, of Illuminant Industries®, has initiated coverage on Alpha Industries Incorporated (Nasdaq: AHAA) with a ST (Short Term) Buy rating and 3-month price target of $68.
We are initiating coverage of Alpha Industries Incorporated with a ST (Short Term) Buy rating. Alpha Industries designs and manufactures a broad range of products for microwave and radio frequency wireless communications applications. Their Application Specific Products (ASPs) segment provides a broad range of gallium arsenide (GaAs) and silicon devices to satellite, instrumentation, defense and other communications markets.
Alpha Industries recently expanded its relationship with two leaders (Nortel and Adaptive Broadband) in the high-speed broadband and wireless Internet markets. We feel the company should be able to capture additional market share through its industry leading millimeter wave applications. The millimeter wave applications are an emerging area of broadband, high-capacity data wireless services, such as Internet access. Systems operating in this frequency range must use GaAs.
Our Fiscal Year 2000 EPS estimate for the combined company is $0.95, and our Fiscal Year 2001 EPS estimate is $1.31. Both of which we feel are conservative based on the strength of future demand estimates for Alpha Industries products in the high-speed broadband and wireless Internet markets.
