Clinton has done such a good job managing the critical business of the Presidency, that people have forgotten what can
happen when an incompetent is put in charge (i.e. Jimmy Carter or Nixon)

I disagree with your opinion of how well Clinton has done
manageing the business of the presidency. Not only was there all of the scandals directly involveing Clinton, but many of his apointees were mired in there own scandals.

I don't think Nixon was incompetent or even close to it. He was however a bit paranoid, and the fact that he was pushed to resign due to watergate and related issues is not
in my opinion, an injustice to him.
Ignoreing his scandals for a moment and just looking at his politics he is far less conservative then most people think. Before he became president he would usually argue the conservative side of controverisal issues, but as president he was not a conservative. This observation is not really related to any arguement over his (or Clinton's) competence.
