John, The recall may not impact revenue but it does allow the competition, the PC makers, and the press to question the processes in place to rollout a new product. Certain analysts feel the impact is next to nothing, because the number of units shipped was minimal. However, how are they going to handle future rollout of other faster processors? Everyone makes mistakes, but they have to find the root cause and avoid such problems. The competition, PC makers, their customers and their shareholders will start to question how things are being done and the process in place and the management in general. They need to forget the speed race, and rollout the right product, the right way and maintain the reliability and quality, so the PC makers can rely on them. If the sweet spot in the market is not the 1 GHZ and above, then why are they so intent on leading the speed race ? So they sacrifice processes, quality control and they create a new perception of quality etc., and they create a new perception of the company.
