Writing in the Aug. 11 issue of Gold & Technology stocks, Jay Taylor
provides his readers with an upbeat review of International Freegold,
rating the company a buy. According to Mr. Taylor, the company should be
among the best speculative plays in the Sudbury platinum group metals (PGM)
area. The newsletter writer notes that Freegold is another of Harry Barr's
companies, someone he evidently holds in high esteem. Mr. Taylor picked
another of Mr. Barr's companies, Pacific Northwest Capital, at 27 cents and
the stock ran briefly to $4.15 before collapsing to under $1. In addition
to the Sudbury PGM play, Freegold has recently signed an agreement with
Ahtna Minerals to acquire a development lease on a PGM property in Alaska.
The company also holds the Golden Summit gold property in Alaska and a
60-per-cent interest in the Almaden gold property in Idaho. Mr. Taylor
notes that investing in PGM exploration companies is even riskier than
investing in gold exploration companies. "As always, you can't get away
from the truism that higher levels of risk provide the potential for higher
rates of return," he writes. International Freegold closed recently at 20
cents.
