What SQSW does is aggregates information differently than say a Lycos, because it tags the information it pulls together totally in XML format...kind of like EDI, only 100 times more efficient...in fact, as EDI gets replaced, SQSW will (hopefully) be the portal to get things done.

Having MSFT as a partner helps SQSW in the fact that MSFT is the gorilla pushing the XML initiative...the more companies adapt XML, the better for SQSW. MSFT is gung ho on their .NET initiative, and will succeed in it....SQSW will (hopefully) be along for the ride.

The biggest misconception in XML is that it can be owned. XML is a language...like Http...and it is industry consortium's that determine the adaption of it, not any one company. No one owns XML...like Http, it is a useable format that allows programs to be developed around it. SQSW's product is a portal that uses XML, not XML that uses a portal.

For references, I would go to (or pick up) Business 2.0's latest magazine.

Best,

John
