eLottery Delivers Internet Lottery Ticket Sales Capabilities to the Jamaica Lottery and the U.K. Charity Lottery
NORWALK, Conn., Aug 30, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- eLOT, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELOT chart, msgs) today announced that its subsidiary, eLottery, Inc., has delivered Internet lottery ticket sales capabilities to the Jamaica Lottery and the U.K. Charity Lottery.

The system installation in Jamaica is complete and the Jamaica Lottery is awaiting final clearance from the Gaming and Lotteries Commission of Jamaica to begin Internet lottery ticket sales at www.jamaicalottery.com. The initial rollout will consist of a Pick 3 game that will be available over the Internet to residents of Jamaica and to international jurisdictions where permitted. Internet sales will not be available to U.S. residents. Ultimately, instant scratch-off games and a twice-weekly lotto game will also be introduced. Once the launch is fully complete, the Jamaica Lottery will implement a comprehensive marketing program to support ticket sales.

The Jamaica Lottery is a member of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL), which represents 47 lottery organizations throughout North America, including most U.S. state lotteries.

The Jamaica Lottery conducts one of the largest and most successful lotteries in the Caribbean region. During its last fiscal year the Jamaica Lottery generated over $50 million in revenue with dividends to worthy causes in excess of $9 million. Prizes paid to winners were in excess of $25 million.

Ed McGuinn, eLOT's President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "I am very pleased with the progress we have made establishing eLottery as one of the first web-based retailers of governmental lottery tickets. The Jamaica Lottery will showcase our technological capabilities and act as a demonstration model for other jurisdictions. Our first mover advantage positions eLottery to capture significant market share as the Internet lottery market rapidly evolves."

Kyle Keehan, Director of the Jamaica Lottery Company, commented, "eLottery's secure execution capabilities and Internet lottery experience will help us grow revenues and increase the dividend that benefits health, education and the Sports Development Foundation. We have conducted a survey and found that 46% of Caribbean residents have access to the Internet and we believe that the Internet, as an additional channel of distribution, taps into a new market that will drive overall lottery ticket sales. During the past several months we have been effectively building our customer database utilizing eLottery's IMARCS system. The number of registered members has exceeded our expectations, which supports our belief that lottery players want the convenience of buying tickets on the Internet."

eLottery also announced that it has delivered Internet sales capabilities to GTL Management Ltd., the operating company for the U.K. Charity Lottery. GTL has not yet scheduled a launch date for Internet lottery ticket sales.

Irwin L. Gross, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GTL, commented, "eLottery has provided us with the technology to initiate Internet sales of our Pick 3 game, The Daily Number, and we are in the process of finalizing our Internet marketing plan and expect to announce our U.K. gaming strategy shortly."
