I had a close friend who was an Objectivist back in college and for several years thereafter. (Eventually I lost patience). Rand had an affair with Branden, was manipulative of him and mean to his wife. Eventually, the husband and wife bond prevailed, and they rebelled against the morbid atmosphere, relocated to California, and worked out their own psychological theories revolving around self- esteem. Leonard Peikoff, who took a doctorate in philosophy and teaches at CUNY, I believe (Brooklyn College, if I remember correctly) became the keeper of the flame, especially after her demise........
