Signal Technology Wins $2.3 Million Contract From HeliOss Communications Inc

DANVERS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2000--

Signal Wireless Group's millimeterwave transceivers used in

high-capacity broadband digital radio platforms for point-to-point

applications

Signal Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: STCO) today announced that its Signal Wireless Group has been awarded contracts totaling $2.3 million from HeliOss Communications Inc. HeliOss is a major provider of a new generation of high capacity, high frequency, point-to-point radios whose minimum capacity is at least OC3 (155Mb/sec). These contracts are a mix of development, initial production and full-scale production of several products addressing several frequency bands.

Signal Technology's millimeter wave transceivers are deployed in HeliOss' Maverick 150 product line. The Maverick 150 product family operates in the 18, 23, 26, 28 and 38 Ghz frequency bands in both the US (FCC) and International (ETSI) markets.

Dr. James DiLorenzo, president and chief operating officer of Signal Technology and the Signal Wireless Group added, "This win, coupled with several other recent awards, demonstrates the viability of our technology in that multiple customers are utilizing similar products which incorporate the same basic technology building blocks. We are moving on several fronts to bring online the capacity that the market is demanding. Our initiatives are providing substantial direct benefits to our customers and are only limited by the ongoing shortage of critical components facing our industry."

George Lombard, Signal Technology's chairman and chief executive officer stated, "We are very pleased to welcome HeliOss as a strategic partner of the Signal Wireless Group. Its well-regarded Maverick product line is positioned as a high-capacity, high frequency radio option. Having HeliOss as a partner demonstrates SWG's technology capabilities in broadband wireless transport and access applications."

Tom Cheatham, HeliOss' chairman and chief executive officer stated, "Signal Technology has the enabling technology we need and has consistently demonstrated its commitment to apply the critical resources required to ensure our mutual long-term success."
