Ciao: The President's remarks in the annual report are very positive, citing that the company is well positioned in terms of products and market knowledge to benefit from China's expected admission to WTO. He also mentioned that the company is prepared to capture new market opportunities in SE Asia as it broadens its product range and customer base.

The annual report is very well put together, in fact, I think it is the best A/R ever published by the company. You will see it for yourself when you receive yours.

In all fairness, management did a good job in fiscal 2000.
After tax profits rose from $1.182M in 1999 to $3.948M (excluding one time dilution gain of $10.242M), an increase of 234%. Gross profit margin increased to 75% from 46% a year ago due primarily to success in business re-engineering undertaken during the year. While both stocks are in the doldrums (more so for TOM than #8003), the company itself is doing very well in terms of profits, margins, cash on hand, product range etc. Q1 results are disappointing, but we know that this is historically a slow quarter for the company. With the stock price being so absurdly low, (TOM's market cap is now less than the company's cash on hand) I guess there is little we shareholders can do but wait for the Q2 results which I think will give us a better idea of the direction the company is heading. I still believe the company's long term prospects are good. What do you think?
