Murali, welcome to our country.

>>If it were McCain, he would have beat Al Gore like drum. <<

My first advice to you is: DO NOT believe the hype that the media fed you during the primaries. The mainstream 4th estate (media) has long ago thrown away objectivity in anything political as to what they feed the unknowing public (which is embarrassingly large). The media hyped John McCain up one side down the other, he was the greatest politician to arrive since FDR! What they didn't tell you is that their straw polls indicated that Gore could beat McCain, the polls also indicated overwhelmingly that Bush could beat Gore. So where would the liberal media throw their support during the primaries??? You can take this statement to the bank: The main steam media would have turned their collective backs on McCain the second the GOP Convention was concluded (they would certainly have tried to influence his VP pick).

Today's New York Times headline would have gone something like this:

"Will McCain be able to complete a 4 year term given the seriousness of his cancer problems?"

Byline: " Will John Q. VP, McCain's VP Choice able to carry on McCain's message?

And this message would be circulating through-out the media leading the unsuspecting public to believe that it would be extremely risky to vote for McCain.

My motto: Question authority

But my golden motto: Question the Media twice!

The Republicans voted for Bush because he represented their beliefs better than McCain, much to the chagrin of the media.
