Some Oracle Humor: informationweek.com IT Confidential By John Soat Bill Brendler is an IT consultant in Houston who specializes in human factors related to implementing enterprise apps, in particular customer-relationship management. Brendler says he was approached in June by Oracle to speak at a meeting of 20 of its CRM customers. Brendler, who's a regular on the rubber-chicken circuit, agreed and says he faxed Oracle a letter confirming the particulars of the speaking engagement, including a provision that calls for Brendler to get half his fee ($6,000) if the engagement is cancelled. It was, and Brendler says that he's jumped through hoops trying to get his $3,000. His original contact at Oracle went on maternity leave and Brendler's been bounced around to several people. He was asked to fill out forms obviously intended for Oracle's software partners, including a Y2K compliance form(!)-and those forms were subsequently lost. Finally, after numerous phone calls and faxes, Oracle has agreed to compensate him.
