<<I think that both sides make good points, but my bet is on Ellison. However, there is some risk, since ORCL failed to make hay in the applications area the last time they owned the platform, and there is more competition now.>>
Hi Hardly,
I have been a long term investor in ORCL since 1995 and I cannot recall anytime since then that they owned or controlled the platform. I think that IBM, DEC, AAPL and MSFT are the companies that controlled the platform over the past 20 years. Furthermore, I think that ORCL's management, especially LE, has matured over the years and they have a clear vision and more importantly a good strategy in place today.
Can you please let me know what you meant by ORCL owning the platform. In the client server era, the database was a component of the system. In the new internet era, the database is central to the system and it is that reason why I think that ORCL can become the dominant software company in the world.
Thanks, Bob. |
