Amateur TA time. CPQ's DMA is holding up very nicely along
with Stochastics. (DMA numbers below.) Stochastics has dip
to 80, but is no where close to taking a dive under 50 at
this point. MACD is a little sick with the MACD line at
1.33 and the MACD signal line at 1.36. I'm using MACD and
Stochastics as confirmation signals for DMA sell signals.
This means that should the 4 DMA drop under the 9 DMA a
sell signal would be activated and instantly confirmed by
todays MACD chart, but not the Stochastics chart.

What closing price would generate a DMA sell signal? A
question answered by plugging some numbers in the Excel
spread sheet. $32.80

8/31/00 $32.8000 $32.86 $33.69 $33.68

I have heard rumors that a number of CPQ share holders have
been contracting new homes based on Compaq's great future
and projected stock price explosion. Please stop doing
this. It is driving the market down on inflation worries
again. Just what we don't need during the low trading
volume vacation season. We also have a three day vacation
week end coming up on top of employment numbers. A lot of
traders close out their positions before a three day week
end. We might get a sell signal just because it's that
time of year.

You might recall my worry about a sell signal on August 2.
You can see what happened below. CPQ took off and hasn't
been close to $28 since then. Let's hope the same thing
happens next week after a little needed vacation rest.
