I feel no one is indispensible to a thread, that includes yours truly. However that is not the issue here. The issue as I see it are the very ideals that the thread seems to have lost along the way, the very reasons that I came over to the Porch in the first place. Those are decency, consideration, and an environment conducive to stressless dialogue. And above all, giving.
And it is the absence or loss of the above that motivated my departure from the very thread that we all have enjoyed for quite some time.
I'm not professing to be a moralist of any kind, we all have used distasteful vernacular at various times in our lives. The point is that here is not where we want it.
As idealistic as it may seem, my post is in no way aimed at any particular individual, it is aimed at rectifying a situation that seems to have manifested itself through the use of inappropriate language as adjudicated by the majority of the thread members, and I for one have always felt the majority should rule.
As most of you know, I have always expounded on the virtues of a stressless life. As anybody who has met me can attest, I live what I preach. It is the very issue at hand that gave me good reason to take a hiatus from the thread. So one might ask, 'Where did I find such stress?' Such stress, to me, comes about as a result of reading certain posts and knowing that, for instance, spouses and children may be reading this thread bearing my name. Additional stress comes from PMs expressing exasperation and concern over the change in the thread.
Hopefully our problems can be rectified and anyone that has chosen to use inappropriate language in the past will see fit for the betterment of the thread to cease such posts.
I'd love to see these changes take place, and hopefully they will. And also hopefully we can get back to everyone, and I do mean everyone, enjoying the thread in a decent, considerate, and giving manner.
