Personally, I don't believe the furious bad mouthings on the Yahoo thread could themselves have driven the stock down although the repetition was both onerous and vulgar. I did my best to try to calm down from what I thought was a vendetta by buyers who probably bought at the top and watched their investment shrink.
We still have free speech in this country; however, I have no idea what the business of shorting can actually accomplish since I have never in my life shorted a stock.
If someone can explain to me how shorts could destroy a stock, I would be better educated. But I am certainly on the side of Titan's management and hope they have a case against anything that illegally perpetrates losses on legitimate, innocent and serious financial investors. That episode of EMLX last week is certainly a good example, and why all the trades were not snuffed after that false rumor was spread (and discovered) is beyond comprehension? We're talking about peoples' bread and butter and hopes for the future. If this is what goes on without remedy in the stock market, I for one would rather be out of it.
It reminds one of the old joke about the departing Knight and his fair lady. She exclaims, "It's all right for you, Sir, to say it's better to have loved and lost, but look at me. I'm pregnant!" It's another sign of our times I guess - just folks having a joke.
