Nortel Networks Solutions to Power Taiwan's New eASPNet

Establishes First Mover Advantage in Asia ASP Market With Supply, Integration

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Nortel Networks* [NYSE/TSE: NT] laid claim to first-mover advantage in
Asia's Application Service Provider (ASP) infrastructure market, announcing a US$26 million
contract to be chief supplier and prime solutions integrator for eASPNet (www.easpnet.com),
Taiwan's new ASP and Internet Data Center (IDC).

Recently formed by a consortium of blue chip Taiwanese and Asian companies, eASPNet
plans to offer enterprise customers - initially in Taiwan and eventually across Asia - a full range
of eBusiness and ASP services. At approximately 105,000 square feet, eASPNet expects to be
one of the largest carrier-grade IDCs in Asia.

Under the agreement, Nortel Networks will design and build for eASPNet a robust and highly
reliable carrier-grade IDC environment to host the business-critical applications it intends to
deliver to its customers.

"There is enormous enthusiasm for the Internet economy in Taiwan and China, and eASPNet's
'rent-an-application' model offers enterprise customers access to high-value eBusiness
applications at significant cost savings, as well as the freedom to focus on core business
issues," said Yu-Lon Chiao, chairman, eASPNet. "Nortel Networks' traditional networking
strengths and its global leadership in eBusiness and the Internet make it the ideal ally to
implement Taiwan's largest IDC, and to function as an end-to-end solutions integrator for our
business customers."

"We are working with eASPNet to bring the economic and competitive benefits of a world-class
ASP solutions portfolio to Taiwan's small and medium-sized businesses, as well as to
implement eASPNet's advanced IDC hosting and network infrastructure," said Robert Mao,
president and chief executive officer, Nortel Networks China. "Both ASPs and IDCs play key
roles in fueling the Internet economy. This association with eASPNet is another significant
step in strengthening our regional and global lead in building the high-performance Internet."

In association with several industry allies, Nortel Networks recently unveiled a Managed
Application Services initiative, bringing together the elements ASPs require to enable a
powerful and efficient strategy and solutions portfolio.

This initiative is intended to accelerate time-to-market and free resources for critical customer-
and market-related tasks; tune ASP networks for peak application performance, creating
platforms for rapid rollout of new services and optimization of the end-user experience; deliver
top-level service management, allowing ASPs to generate new revenue streams and offer
differentiated services with guaranteed service levels; and provide single points of
accountability.

The Nortel Networks end-to-end IDC solution consists of industry-leading network infrastructure
and management software integrated with IT (information technology) infrastructure, storage
and other components from Nortel Networks allies. Part of the IDC solution is the Nortel
Networks Preside* Managed Application Services platform, enabling ASPs to cost-effectively
offer a variety of hosted eBusiness applications to enterprises of all sizes, and to deliver
end-to-end application management all the way to the desktop via a common platform.
eASPNet is a full e-Service Provider offering trusted end-to-end managed Internet Data Center
and Application Service Provider services in the Asia Pacific region. eASPNet is enabling
innovative internet hosting and application rental services to enterprises of all sizes with best
in class technology partners and corporate alliances. eASPNet is formed by a group of global
blue-chip corporations aiming to build a long-term sustainable and profitable business.
