Go back and read what I quoted from Paul. The only
thing Itanium will "tower over" anyone at is RC5.
"The Dryhstone of the 21st Century." In your own words
you are "very worried" about Foster and Willamettes impact
on Itanium. I would be too. You can't have it both ways.

Itanium isn't going to outperform Alpha at any benchmark
of significance. A product has to ship. The fact that
Intel is downplaying SPEC doesn't bode well for Itanium.
Tell us your read on that? How do you "push" or suggest
that Itanium is also a workstation player if THE single
most important workstation benchmark is ignored? Why is it
ignored? Obviously because the compilers are far from being
world-class and won't be 1Q 20001.

Regarding Alpha and speeds... yes.. very careful about
getting excited about "deliverables" there. Too long
a timeframe. However, we know sooner or later we see
speedy EV68. After all, Compaq has landed the largest
SuperComputer contract of the year with EV68 and 2 others
that are very large (Pittsburgh NSF among them). Quite
obvious price and performance is very good there.

Power4? 21364 in the Wildfire follow-on aka Marvel.
