If someone can explain to me how shorts could destroy a stock

That's the biggest joke on people against shorters. In the long term, it has ZERO affect. Shorters sell stock BUT HAVE TO BUY IT BACK AT SOME TIME. The net affect is zero shares traded.

You could even say shorters do a favor to long term investors by allowing them to add to their position at a cheaper price.

The EMLX hoax is another issue.
