Billy Tauzin's (chrm. of the House subcommittee on Telecommunications, Trade & Consumer Protection) letter of yesterday was quite a shock. His previous tone was that internet gaming is a scourge that must be banished from the face of the earth.

But now, he's backpedaling...

<<"Ultimately, state lottery organizations were against H.R. 3125 because they felt it curtailed the ability of states to control gaming activities within their own borders."

"H.R. 3125 was constructed by the Judiciary Committee, and although it is well-intentioned bill it still maintains some problematic provisions. Unfortunately, the Commerce Committe was not given a long enough referral to fix some of these problems, and, as a result, my subcommitte, ..., was not able to mark H.R. 3125 up."

"THE PROSPECTS OF THIS LEGISLATION COMING BACK TO THE FLOOR FOR A VOTE ARE NOT GREAT, but our leadership is considering subjecting the bill to a rule--which means that the bill could be amended on the floor before it is voted on again.">>

We have them on the run. So write your Congressman. I guess Billy has found a more expedient target, Ford & Firestone.
