His call (Lieberman's) is clearly not to everyone -- must he abstain from expressing his own religous convictions because he is public life? I think not ... I don't put away God somehow when I do engineering. Separation of church and state was never meant to preclude personal expressions of faith anywhere -- rather it was meant to preclude requiring some one to share such views to participate in govermental affairs ...

We come a long way from what the founding fathers intended -- I don't see Lieberman saying that you must believe such and such ... he isn't calling an unbeliever ... he isn't calling someone who doesn't believe in Jehovah ...

If one can accept that there is a God (after all you can't ever force faith on anyone -- one acquires it or it is granted it or else one does not have it) -- then it follows that God is not only "in" the Constitution -- he is "in" or has a played a role in the way events have unfolded from the "dawn of time" -- anything less and He is not God ...
