Your right, Korea was a "police action" but it was certainly a UN action. As Neocon has already pointed out US troops are usually only used when casualties are certain or likely. Fact remains... No other country has spent as much money, material, or blood under UN auspices than the US. If the US withdrew tomorrow the UN would collapse. One can hope.
