I only got to hear parts of the Wind CC. I am hoping John Huber comes over here and gives an update. I did hear Allen Benn live on the call noting that it was impressive that Wind was getting a foot in door at the the Sony consumer appliance division.

There was also an announcement earlier today that Wind won some business with Palm---among others. I still believe Wind is making excellent progress in positioning itself to be a leading company in the future, but there is still no tornado in revenues or earnings growth. It is my suspicion, however, that there is a tornado like growth occurring for the number of products using some sort of Wind River IP. Seems like this should eventually translate in to tornado like growth in revenue and earnings. Check out these recent wins from this press release today:

Strong Design Wins

Wind River continues to earn significant design wins across a large number of market segments, particularly in consumer and networking. In the consumer space, Sony recently launched their innovative new line of solid-state portable mobileelectronics, including the VxWorks®-powered Network Walkman NW-E3. Sony also chose VxWorks for its first digital cable set-top box to be deployed by Cablevision in the United States. Philips Semiconductor is shipping Wind River software with its TriMedia(TM) programmable media processor, as well as shipping set-top boxes that contain the software. Motorola selected Wind River software for its advanced-feature phone currently under development. Xerox began shipping its Wind-River-powered DocuPrint(TM) color inkjet printers for small office/home office (SOHO). Other companies selecting Wind River included Palm, Inc., for use of Wind River's TCP/IP networking stack to provide Internet connectivity features for Palm OS® handheld devices; Polycom, Inc., for its Voice over IP (VoIP) telecommunications system, the next generation of the award-winning Soundstation(TM) conference phone; VoiceTel Systems, Inc., for the VTS1000 hands-free voice-recognition universal remote; and Bang and Olufsen for the U.S. version of its BeoVision Avant TV.

In the network infrastructure area, Wind River had more than 10 Tornado® for Managed Switches design wins during the second quarter. Wind River's VxWorks was also selected for Intel Corporation's Basis Communications' BC6911 network processor, and as the foundation for a variety of DSL or cable modems, bridges, routers, access multiprocessors, network gateways, and optical switches. Wind River also saw design wins and follow-on purchases from Sycamore Networks, a leading intelligent optical networking company; 3COM for its NBX® 100 Communications System; 2Wire for the HomePortal(TM) 1000 series DSL home gateway product; Shoreline Communications for its ShoreGear Voice Switches; Conexant Systems, Inc., for its interactive TV decoder chip; and start-up VTLinx for a multimedia over IP conferencing system.

Strategic Programs
On the corporate programs front, Wind River introduced its second and third Center of Excellence partnerships with MIPS and Hitachi/ST Philips, joining previously announced Intel. Through the unique Center of Excellence initiative, Wind River accelerates the availability of optimized hardware and software solutions by partnering on a one-to-one basis with leading semiconductor manufacturers.

Best, Huey

P.S. I believe Wind said in the call they are in 22% of all microprocessors.
