SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 31 (Reuters) - Electronics contract manufacturer Sanmina Corp. (NASDAQ: SANM) announced on Thursday plans to acquire the San Jose, Calif. messaging system integration and fulfillment operation of Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU).
Financial details were not disclosed.
The San Jose operation, including a manufacturing facility, will make messaging systems sold to communications service providers by Lucent, and enterprise messaging systems sold by Avaya, the former Enterprise Networks Group that will be spun off from Lucent on Sept. 30, Sanmina said in a statement.
The transaction is expected to be closed by Sept. 30, at which time the 141 employees currently working in the operation will become employees of Sanmina.
"The acquisition of this organization supports our strategic growth goals, expanding our direct order fulfillment of complex systems," Jure Sola, Sanmina's chairman, said in a statement. |
