Barron's Article

There's an article in this week's Barron's that is of interest to RWDT investors. It's an interview with mutual fund manager Christopher K. McHugh, whose stocks were up 125% last year.

According to McHugh, "A lot of companies have had great products or services at start-up but haven't been able to follow them up with additional new products and services. They need to have the ability to sell back into their customer base and attract new buyers. New products and services is what accelerates the revenue growth. Complementing this is distribution. Does a company have the ability to form joint ventures, alliances or partnerships? The more people they have out there selling their products, the better known their products will become, which will translate into higher sales volume. So broadening distribution capacity is highly critical for small companies to be able to go to the next stage of development."

Reading this I thought first of how RWD has added new products/services which have been sold into their existing customer base as well as to new customers. Recently most of these have been Internet products/services, especially e-learning. Secondly I thought of the alliances and partnerships RWD has formed, such as the recent ones with i2 and Sequoia Software. As RWD President Beakes noted in the July 25 press release, "So far this year RWD has received many large contract awards and entered into partnership agreements with organizations having large sales forces, which can have a significant impact on our future earnings."

Both new products and increased distribution have contributed to record sales at RWD and both are now helping to get the stock moving.
