CDMA Subscribers Total 65 Million Worldwide

August 31, 2000 (TOKYO) -- CDMA subscriber numbers reached 65 million worldwide as
of June 2000, the CDMA Development Group announced Aug. 28.

Use of CDMA doubled in the year from June 1999. By region, the Asia/Pacific region
maintained its dominant position with 33 million, followed by 23 million in North America.

The CDMA technology advocating group also said the growth rates are strongest in
Latin America at 346 percent, followed by a 183 percent increase in Europe, the Middle
East and Africa, though the numbers are relatively small.
