Using a fairly conservative figure of 60% discount

If a company has small chunks (relative to the number of shares out) of numerous companies and no control over them (passive investors) the holding company often sell for a large discount to assets (e.g 40-60% of NAV). However in my experience, when a company has controlling interest in their subs (50% or greater) and has the board covered and are in control the discount is normally not more than 20-30% (sell at 70-80% of NAV). In many case the holding company will often sell above NAV when major events are expected in their subs. Just look at stocks like EKP, PNP, JDX, Itemus, etc. during their runs and none of these held huge interests in the companies they held (expect for a couple EKP holds) and all sold WAY above NAV.
