I'm starting to agree with you that msft is about where Orcl was 2 years ago in terms of product lifecycle and transition etc. My sense is the new initiatives are fairly sweeping and significant and if msft can execute then the future looks bright (I'm not talking about just .net here, but also the voiceweb). The only problem I have is with msft valuation, its too high. To be honest with you I think msft would be better off if it were to break up and move the .net initiative to a separate operating company while the voice technology stays in OS platform architecture, or something like that. Going forward my guess is less and less value add will come from the windows os dominance, technologically speaking anyway.
