In the abstract, I see your point. I found the incident ugly, too. But SI believes in community standards, and if a particular thread is tolerant of obscenity, they don't get involved, so freedom of speech was not abridged.
I find it inappropriate the fact that the Porch was used as a medium to test free speech and the right to harass Voltaire and his friends. The Porch was never intended to be a laboratory in which to test the limits of social or personal freedoms. Rather, it was dedicated to affection for Voltaire, and created as a place for him to share his insights about life and investing. Because of the destructive way BIA deported herself and intruded on that charter, it became necessary to poll the Porch determine if there was a consensus on that question, and she damaged herself during that process.
I'll change the thread header shortly now the issue of use has been agreed upon. Only one person objected to it until now, and while I understand the reasoning behind your stance, I have no sympathy for her's. It is clear that the overwhelming majority of Porchers are unwilling to tolerate that type of behavior.
The fact that you love me doesn't mitigate the fact that you dislike what I've done, Polvie, since it is merely a commentary on your nature and commitment to universal love. I respect you on balance because of your wit, intelligence, sensitivity, and concern for all living things.
