Zaffire mention

I don't know if this has been posted yet but there is a special report on the ALL OPTICAL NETWORK at opticalnetbiz.com dated 9/2000 that has a nice mention of Zaffire.

opticalnetbiz.com

"ONI Systems and Zaffire took that approach and have gained ground in the metro space. Zaffire started shipping products three months ago and expects to post revenue by early next year. The start-ups are relying on the fact that they have the ability to be more focused as their selling point. Rob Keil, vice president of marketing for Zaffire, says his company's products are purpose-built systems, designed by engineers focusing specifically on the metro space. Keil said vendors trying to fit a "square peg into a round hole" by repackaging long-haul solutions for the metro area won't last. The market isn't big enough, he said.

"It's hard for engineers in the long-haul (market) to erase their memory and start fresh," Keil said.

The philosophy has started to pay off. Zaffire's pipeline of customers has picked up tremendously over the last few months, indicating that customers are starting to absorb the technology, said Keil. This month Zaffire plans to be the first to market a new technology called "digital wrappers." And it is one of the few vendors to enter into the European metro-area market, where it expects to drive the market curve."
