Maybe 10% of tantalums just MIGHT be replaceable by ceramics, but it'd be a desperation move caused by dire shortages. And with dire shortages tantalums won't get hurt anyway.

The key issue affecting the sector will be perceptions of when the cycle peaks rather than earning, which are assumed to go well during boom times. (While they're still important, they'll take second place, I think, to the larger economic issue.) Sellers like to anticipate a peak by about six months or so. But as shortages continue and demand for electronic devices gives more signs of increasing than slackening, there will be a strong runup in the stocks.
