Semi-OT:Informax IPO Set At 5M Shares, $14-$16 Each

WASHINGTON -- Informax Inc.'s underwriters set its pending initial
public offering at 5 million shares with a price range of $14 to $16 a share,
according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission
Thursday.

On July 11, the company filed to sell up to $75 million in common stock
but didn't give the terms.

The offering will constitute 27.6% of the 18.1 million shares outstanding,
suggesting a total market capitalization of up to $290.1 million and total
proceeds from the offering of up to $80 million. Those figures don't include
any exercise of the overallotment, or shares related to outstanding or
potential options or warrants.

The company plans to use the net proceeds for working capital and other
general purposes.

Bear Stearns & Co., U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray and Adams Harkness &
Hill Inc. are listed as underwriters of the offering.

Informax, based in Rockville, Md., provides bioinformatic software
solutions for analyzing and interpreting genomic, proteomic and other
biomolecular data.
The company has applied to have its common stock listed on the Nasdaq
Stock Market under the symbol INMX.
