Scrapps, here is what Pluckhahn said a while back.

We believe that, in the months to come, ALCATEL’s semiconductor division will begin to leave the ADSL market. This will leave ALCATEL’s equipment unit, which manufactures Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers and Digital Loop Carriers, looking for new suppliers of ADSL chipsets.

I just don't see Alcatel Micro leaving the ADSL chip business anytime soon, if at all.

In another report Pluckhahn went on to say...

Alcatel’s chip unit. We believe that Alcatel Systems, which manufactures DSL access concentrators
for the Regional Bell telephone companies, is preparing to buy ADSL chips from suppliers other than
Alcatel’s captive chip unit, which has struggled both on quality and quantity issues. Top contenders
for the business are, in our judgment, Texas Instruments and ADI.

This second statement from Pluckhahn is much more in line with what I have been hearing from others. Just wanted to give some of my thoughts on the matter since it has been a fairly hot topic around here for a while now.
