I think the chart comparisons between Dow '28-'29 and NAZ '98-'00 are fair, except for one difference: Mr. Greenspan would never let the market sieze up like that. Heck, there was even some evidence that he saved the Nasdaq back in April. So it's doubtful that the full 90% '29-'32 bear would be duplicated here, maybe 30-45% max on the Dow and S&P. But I doubt AG would let it get even that far, unless inflation got so out of control that he couldn't cut rates. Of course, then he'd be tinkering with the index futures, as he did back in April. ;-)
