National Semiconductor Chooses Teradyne Test Systems
BOSTON, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradyne (NYSE:TER) announced today that National Semiconductor has selected Teradyne's A575 Advanced Mixed-Signal Microwave Test System for testing its DECT 1.9 GHz devices used for cordless phone applications. The first system was installed in January 1997 and two additional systems have been ordered for delivery in the third quarter of 1997.
According to Seyed Paransun, test development manager at National, ``As a long-time A5 customer, we've always been impressed with the service and support Teradyne provides for its products. In our evaluation of ATE vendors, Teradyne was chosen to deliver a highly integrated and production worthy wireless test solution.''
Gordon Eddy, Teradyne's product manager for wireless instrumentation, stated, ``We have a strong relationship with National and this purchase reflects its confidence in us to provide a comprehensive wireless test solution to fulfill its needs.''
David Derian, manager of wireless test applications at Teradyne added, ``The first National device targeted for the A575 is the LMX3161, a single chip radio transceiver. The device employs digital, analog, and RF functions on a single IC. Teradyne's A5 mixed-signal microwave test system provides functionality for testing all of these technologies as an integrated system with tools that speed time to production. We look forward to working with National as they continue to introduce cutting edge, highly integrated devices for the wireless market.''
The A575 Advanced Mixed-Signal Systems provide a maximum of 128 digital test pins with maximum digital data rates of 200 Mbit/second, edge placement accuracy as tight as +/- 350ps and 510K or 1M of memory behind each pin. As testing needs vary, Teradyne offers users convenient and easy upgrade options, and configurations ranging from DC to RF. The A575 systems utilize a SPARCstation 5 User Computer and FORCE Tester Computer, for fast interactive performance and device test throughput.
