hey gottfried,

thanks for the tips on stopping systray launches. i've been putting them to use. trying to stop realplayer from starting despite deleting it from startup group. it literally comes and goes. that is, it always stayes in the sys config utility startup menu, but the checkmark randomly decides to return after being removed.

the regedit scan tips were helpful. i found a couple 'run' keys for realplayer and deleted the value for one. maybe that'll do it.

interestingly, in system configuration utility, realplayer has at the end of it's filename 'SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER'. looks suspicious to me. <g3>

all in all, a very educational post.

:)
