Help me, Rhonda! Help me, Anyone!
Great set of sites! I had no idea about any of that. And you’re right, I have always liked DH&TMS doing "Sylvia’s Mother." Never occurred to me to wonder who wrote it, or any of his other connections.
It never occurs to me to wonder who wrote a song’s lyrics, even after I found out that Barry Manilow didn’t really write “I Write the Songs.” Even though the lyrics say right in there that he writes the songs! Sort of an eye-opener, and the first seeds of doubt and mistrust in sewed in an impressionable young mind.
Well, that’s actually OT. My purpose isn't free therapy. It actually has to do with lyrics, and it's been bothering me for at least 30 years. If it stops bothering me, I might be better adjusted, and that could have benefits all around.
The lyrics are from the Beach Boys’ song “Help Me, Rhonda.” The song starts off something like “Ever since she put me down. . . .” but that’s where I lose it. It sounds to me like they're saying “I’ve been hop-toing in my head.” But I don’t think that’s what it is because that doesn’t made sense.
I’ve actually done many searches on song lyrics sites, but to no avail. One complete jerk at some site explained that he’d had the same problem as me with the same song. The SAME problem! It had bothered him him for years, too. Constant irritation.
I'd found a kindred spirit! He’d searched high and low, and then he finally found this web site. And the site was really a find, and so helpful to him. He goes on for a couple more pages about how this has been really great for him. Finally he says “So, what are the words?” I’m holding my breath. FINALLY I’ll know. What’s he say? He says “Still no idea.”
That’s when I shot my monitor. Which explains this new one, and the new toilet tank in the next room.
