Jon, re: "The practice of shorting feels inherently sociopathic, especially when practiced as a primary methodology."
That was good!!! Yeah, I couldn't imagine just being one who just shorts!! I went short on the gap on Friday and covered to make a few bucks but it is a very difficult practice. It's almost a "feel" in many cases when matched up with all the data.
There is a level of respect one must always keep at the forefront when shorting. That level of respect has to do with losing possibly MORE than everything you have, where as a long position, in most cases, may put you at zero at worst!
My mental picture of a short is somewhat different. I picture a male that lives alone, mid 40's, geeky look to him; Somewhat of a loner, never really making enough at it to get ahead so he doesn't drive a nice car; an odd type of pet, say one of those lizard things and basically, not much of a life!!
Sorta did look like that guy, didn't it!!!!
Sabre!
BTW, I'm married, mid 30's, have a dog, 3 kids, drive a truck and love life!! ;) |
