I 1st used Waterhouse, and they had their own margin and daytrading rules.

Then I went with Real Tic and their rules were different. ANd then I used Tradecast who cleared through Penson and they still had different ways of determining violations.

I am now using Timberhill/Interactive Brokers. They are their own clearing firm. I have yet to make a trade with them and expect I will only daytrade resulting in being flat at days end. Holding over is where I've had problems.

My thoughts are that Penson is more conservative than others in their interpretation of regs.
